Short Description

This project will promote and encourage the sharing and understanding of different cultures. It will tackle the subject of the Holocaust concerning human rights and active citizenship. The issue will be analysed from different angles with particular attention to the Diaries of three teenagers who lived during that time, the material found in the Jewish museums of the various lands, the Yad Vashem and the films from the Centropa Organisation. The students will collaborate in transnational groups and display their work on the eTwinning site and other Media. A variety of web2 tools will be used during collaboration.

AIM and Objectives

The project aims to allow students to use the English language and IT to share information about themselves, their countries and their schools. It will mainly deal with the lessons learned through the study of the Holocaust in relation to human rights and active citizenship. Specific attention will be paid to the individual and collective contribution each of us can give to promote tolerance, acceptance and understanding. More specifically, this project, through studying materials, discourse and creation, aims at

  • broadening our spectrum,
  • understanding notions like Human Rights, acceptance and tolerance,
  • fighting indifference and thus letting us become involved and active citizens.

Expected results: We plan to create a TwinSpace for the collaborative creation of products based on the students' inclinations, aptitudes and creativity. By the end of the project, we expect our students to

- have improved IT competencies

- enhanced communicative strategies and improved language competencies

- ameliorated negotiating skills, problem-solving

- worked in teams to produce a shared product

- improved transcultural awareness and awareness of culture and lifestyles

- have understood the notions of acceptance and tolerance

- have understood the importance of the knowledge of Human Rights and the respect we owe to them

- have understood the importance of not being silent, indifferent and a bystander as opposed to being an upstander and active citizen.
